*We're Going To The Zoo, Zoo, Zoo, How About You, You, You*

Yesterday I took a little trip to Port Lympne Zoo with some lovely people.. the weather was shockingly bad, mostly torrential rain (gotta love British unexpected downpours), but desipte the adverse weather conditions, we had a lovely day and saw most of the animals... all except the gorillas, a little disappointed about that but I can't blame the gorillas for wanting to hide away from the elements in their cosy beds!

This was my favourite little fella, he sat posing for photos whilst enjoying a crunchy carrot and leaves...

Me and the Lovely Joanne by the hedge maze

The giraffes were out in the safari enclosure. It's great, the animals have so much space to roam alongside other animals that would naturally share their habitat.

One of the white rhinos came to say hello

We took bets to see if I was taller than the giraffe or not....... I wasn't!

Deluxe hot chocolate break! After all the rain (whoever said summer was supposed to be sunny anyway!) we needed a warming beverage!

Tiger sitting in the rain...

It's such a shame that the mansion isn't open to the public anymore... only for weddings and events. It was always a great part of the zoo visit!

Edinburgh Zoo - A Fantastic Day Out!

I had an absolutely wonderful weekend in Edinburgh with the boyf. On our second day in the beautiful city we visited Edinburgh zoo. It was fantastic! One of the best zoos I have visited. Almost every animal was happy and visible in it's enclosure. Some animals, like leopards and bears, are really difficult to spot in some zoos (like London zoo!) but in Edinburgh zoo they were in full view. I highly recommend a visit to the zoo if you are in the city. We managed to get the reduced, book-in-advance, winter special tickets for a tenner each and we spent well over 4 and a half hours there! (in contrast to Dynamic Earth, that we spent a tenner on and spent a grand total of an hour and a half!). I made good use of my camera and here are some of my favourite photos from our little day trip...

I couldn't leave these little fellas out! The natural British wildlife was invading the Siberian Musk Deer enclosure and I couldn't resist a little snap of the squirrels :)

The Leopard is one of the animals I have always failed to spot in other zoos, I didn't quite get a perfect shot, but to see it at all was a bonus... and what a magnificent cat!

The Zebra and Kudu enclosure was great, really huge and had a little viewing point in the middle of it. I caught this little zebra having a drink at the water hole.

How adorable is this little guy!

It's the mating season for the penguins and this little guy spent absolutely ages painstakingly picking up pebbles in his beak and gradually filling up the nest for his potential lady :)

This amazing Sea Eagle was just hanging out right at the front of it's enclosure posing for a photo!

Possibly the snooziest koala ever!

Squirrel monkeys

The sun bear. Another animals that I have never seen in captivity, this guy was scavaging around his enclosure looking for hidden food.

The lemur walk was great too. We timed it just right when everyone was at the penguin parade and managed to have the whole place to ourselves, aside from the lemurs of course! I caught this lemur mid-leap from the rock to the log.

This lemur had a little sniff of my boots! It's so amazing to get up close to these lovely creatures. My trip to Edinburgh zoo definitely enhanced my stay in the gorgeous Scottish city!

Tropical World in Leeds - Butterflies, Birds and Bearded Dragons!

If you ever find yourself in Leeds needing something to do, I recommend visiting Tropical World just on the outskirts of the city in Roundhay. It is right at the edge of Roundhay park which is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit in itself! It is the best value for money attraction in Leeds (apart from the free museums and galleries of course!) at only £3.25 for an adult ticket and me and my friend Joanne (who I was showing the sights of Leeds for the day) spent over and hour in the butterfly house and miniature zoo. Here are some of my favourite photos from my visit...

The Butterfly section was absolutely boiling (Hence the "tropical" bit of Tropical world I guess!) but had some beautiful species of butterfly and moth fluttering around our heads. I managed to get a few photos of them as they settled on the flowers and hand rails.

This gorgeous little one's wings have seen better days...

Meerkat watch tower - this little fella had the duty of keeping a lookout while everyone else snoozed... someone got a bit of a bum deal!

All of the birds (like the butterflies) flew freely around the exhibits and as they were obviously very used to having humans around them they posed happily for my photos not in the least bit frightened.

A very sleepy and lazy iguana.

A very cute tree shrew.

Can you spot the stick insect? :)

Trip to the zoo

I went to Chessington with The Style PA today, it was really quiet due to the weather and the London Marathon, so we managed to go on all the rides we wanted to, which left us with plenty of time to enjoy the zoo. Here are some of my favourite photos from our visit...

Me feeding the lorikeets

hmm... does a beak suit me? I'm not so sure!

This little Mara wasn't camera shy

my favourite photo, I love how the leopard's face is totally in focus and the rest is blurred.
