Double Dose of Polka Dots - Upcycled Fabrics

There's nothing like a bit of upcycling. Why waste lovely fabrics, clothes, and objects when they can be upcycled into something better, prettier and dottier!? This Monday's double dose for your dotty delight features some lovely dotty upcycled items available on the world wide web...

Dose number one - I absolutely adore this lovely little purse made from an unused polka dot tie! It's very cute, and there are more where this one came from, made by the lovely Kake Makes in her folksy shop. You can follow her great blog What Katie Found too!

Double Dose Two - This upcycled polka dot hair slide is made from a variety of vegan polka dot fabrics and is really pretty. It's £5.25 from EcoLoveByBunny's Etsy shop.

Post It On - My Lovely New Coat!

I've been wanting a new coat for a while now, ever since my poor tired old coat started losing its buttons and I wanted to make sure that on my first day of teaching placement I was looking smart and wrapped up warm. As luck would have it I was chosen for the "post it on" challenge. I decided on a lovely blue coat from Tesco's Clothing website...

I absolutely love it! My wardrobe is distinctly lacking in blues and this is a welcome addition. Plus, I love the shape of the coat. Being of a slightly larger size it shows off my curves and actually gives me a waist! Hurrah! In the past I have found it really difficult to find a coat that is right for me. They're either shapeless, too expensive, or are so thick that even in the snow I overheat in minutes! So this Blue Mac from Tesco is the perfect solution for me - its function and fashion rolled into one, something I have always struggled to find when coat shopping, so thank you Tesco!

Now for the next lovely blog to recieve the post it on challenge........ Frills'n'Spills you lovely ladies are up next!

Double Dose of Polka Dots - Cath Kidston

As some of my Twitter followers are aware, I will be starting my final year teaching placement tomorrow... (excited! nervous!)... as a teacher I find that I constantly carry half of my life around with me, and it gets pretty heavy, and hard work! So naturally a little bit of polka dotty Cath Kidston eases the load immensly!

Dose numero uno! I love anything in the Cath Kidston "Spot" design and this gorgeous Holdall cannot fail to accomodate all of my folders, planning, laptop and of course my lunchbox!

Dose numero dos! Laptops are invariably very dull-looking (unless you splash out on a posh and pretty one!) so I like to keep mine looking pretty in a blue floral sleeve. I love this Cath Kidston Spot laptop sleeve for £22

Double Dose of Polka Dots - Exams Are Making Me Go Dotty!

This week's double dose of polka dots features some dotty stationary... I've got three exams this week, so with revision and the exams themselves rearing their ugly head, some pretty polka dots will help me survive it all with my sanity in tact... well... almost!

Dose number one - These lovely little shiny happy polka dot pens are from dotcomgiftshop and are a bargain at £1.95! Perfect to accompany me into my exam and keep me going when the clock is ticking and I'm running out of paper and ideas fast!

Dose number two - These lovely polka dot pens from Paperchase have been featured before because I love them so much! They're colourful, they're polka dotty: what more could you want from a pen?!

So if you're among the "lucky" ones with exams, assignments and revision coming up soon, then grab yourself some polka dot pens to keep yourself motivated throughout the exam... and if that fails to happen, at least you'll have something pretty to look at!

Photography - Carl Warner's Food Landscapes

I stumbled across this amazing photographer recently, and I have fallen in love with his work! Carl Warner's "Food Landscapes" really are amazing! Everything that makes up the scene is an item of food, and the photos have a really dream-like quality that I just love! To see more about Carl Warner and his work visit his website... in the meantime here are a few of his photographs!

I really love this one, the cornflake autumn leaves are great!

I love the way he has used fish for the sea in this one

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but chances are it's cold, miserable and raining. I love autumn, all the pretty leaves and colours, and those crisp, cold, but sunny days. But somehow Leeds has felt like it has been raining non-stop for a week now! The one advantage of the horrid weather is that I've had an excuse to wear my polka dot rain mac (above) and get out my pretty polka dot umbrella! Below are some more polka dot delights that are perfect for this cold and wet weather!

Double Dose of Polka Dots - Polka Dots and Pin Ups!

Well folks, it's that time again already.... Monday morning! Time for your double dose of polka dots... after all, who would want to start the week without it! Ok, so this week's dotty theme is polka dots and pin ups... enjoy!

ASOS Fiorucci Rear Window Watch - £50

How adorable is the Fiorucci polka dot pin up watch from ASOS? I just love everything about it! Well, maybe I don't love the price tag too much, as it's more than I normally spend on a watch, but it is pretty none-the-less! Also, you can't see it in the photo of the item, but on the pretty polka dotted watch strap it has a little heart charm... too cute!

Following on with this week's pin up theme - I stumbled across this cute little polka dot pin up pocket mirror from NiceDayDesigns Etsy shop. They sell lots of cute retro styled pocket mirrors My other favourite is the "Eat Me" cupcake pocket mirror... and surprise surprise... it has polka dots on it too! :D

Etsy - The Cupcake Social - Baking with Polka Dots!

On one of my many scourings of Etsy, I came across this delightful cupcake based shop: The Cupcake Social. There isn't much for me to say other than, it makes me smile... all those polka dots, all those pretty things... all those cakes! There were so many things that I loved and wanted in their shop that the only way I could put them all into this blog post (without it being a mile long!) was to give you lots of little pics... ENJOY!

Rockabilly Riot Zombie Dance!

I don't usually have many plans for Halloween, but this year was different. My boyfriend and his band were Deejaying for a Rockabilly night: Rockabilly Riot Zombie Dance at Smokestack in Leeds. So naturally I got into the Zombie spirit of things, donned my favourite vintage dress, zombie-fied my skin and went along for a halloween boogie!

There were some yummy Halloween-themed cupcakes, I chose the chocolatey one with fangs and it went down a treat! :)

The band were fantastic too. The X Ray Cat Trio, I'd never seen them before, but I certainly will be looking out for them and seeing them again! They are on Twitter too, so check them out.

The DJ's for the evening - The 3D glasses - playing some rockin' tunes!

Me and my fellow freaky halloween friends! The zombie sailor and china doll.

A close up on the zombie hand - my practise the night before the main event :)
