Style Icon - Romola Garai - Queen of The Period Drama

I, like many others, have been avidly watching The Hour on BBC2 over the past few weeks. It's fantastic! Set in the mid-50's with the Suez War backdrop, the programme centers around two journalists and their topical current affairs show. It's more or less got everything a good programme should have, intrigue, drama, suspense, a brilliant cast, some gorgeous 50's costumes, and the ever-wonderful Romola Garai!

Romola Garai is fast becoming the queen of the period drama having starred in a number of BBC period drama productions and various films, including: Emma, Crimson Petal and The White, Atonement, Vanity Fair, and (one of my favourites!) Glorious 39...

Glorious 39 is any vintage lovers dream! Romola wears some absolutely amazing dresses and outfits throughout the film, and I LOVE the red beret look below.

Who is your style icon?

I don't really have a style icon, but I LOOOOVE period pieces! I've always wished I could be an actress just for the fact that I could wear gorgeous dresses from so long ago and it would be acceptable. Sign me up for the next Marie Antoinette movie or anything set in the 40s/50s!

She always looks so stunning! I really like Leighton Meester but really anyone with dark hair is a winner with me :)

Oh I love her! One of my absolute favourite books (and subsequent films) is "I capture the castle"- I thought she was fantastic in that too x

I absolutely adore that red number from Glorious 39 (may have to look into that film now!). My style icons are Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Irene Dunne and the other lovelies from the golden age of Hollywood :)
